K-8 Curriculum Tools
We develop materials to support your classroom practice in ways that deepen your understanding of EL Education's approach and strategiesSharing Learning Across Distance
Students are learning during this time, both within and beyond the context of school. They can make deeper meaning of what they learn, and reclaim a sense of agency in a time they may feel powerless, by reflecting on and sharing it: with a teacher, a peer, a parent, their community, or the wider world. Structures like student-led conferences and passages can be repurposed to help students reflect on their growth during this crisis. This Collection includes actionable tools, many from our partners, for educators to support students in the goal-setting, reflection, and sharing that is still meaningful and possible, and in re-envisioning traditions for celebrating milestones.Responsive Remote Instruction
In the midst of crisis, the rhythm and connections offered by school can be a source of care. Care can also look like worthwhile, accessible learning, prioritizing those already furthest from opportunity, that respects families’ realities and empowers students as learners and as members of their communities. Responsive remote instruction can bring students in, engage them deeply, and build the skills they need for this time. This Collection includes actionable tools, many from our partners, for educators to plan and deliver responsive remote instruction.
Virtual Crew
So much has changed, but our needs haven’t changed. While school buildings are closed, we need, more than ever, to fulfill our most fundamental human needs: the desire to connect with others, a sense of being together in all this, and a feeling of our own capacities to thrive and do good, even in times of trouble. Many of us, adults and students alike, are worried for our loved ones and overwhelmed by the ever-shifting changes to our daily lives. Purposeful moments of connection, including virtual Crew meetings, can nurture a sense of belonging, purpose, and agency—vital ingredients for helping students and educators to sustain their resilience and focus during these times. Based on what we and our partners have learned so far, this collection offers our recommended moves and resources for getting started, for facilitating virtual crew with students, and for leading staff crew, whether your school is doing crew synchronously, asynchronously, or some combination of the two.
Projects At Home
Looking for cool projects that can engage students at home and support academic learning at the same time? We mined our collection of student projects—the world’s largest collection of quality student work—for projects that kids can do at home. We chose some simple projects that can be done in one session, and others that may take a few days or more. They can be self-directed projects, or supported by family or teachers. This is not just a collection of engaging project ideas. Kids can view beautiful versions of completed projects, done by students of all ages from all over the world, to get inspired, get ideas, and set high standards for their work. The projects span pre-school to high school, and almost every project can be adjusted for older or younger children.
